Undone drabble

Right, so Kaesa is the next interlude and it's actually vitally important that he gets a chance to tell his story. But the little sod refuses to be nudged into the spotlight and insists on other characters taking over. Which is not allowed as no one knows who they are yet. Grrrrr. So have this little snippet. It's not from a future chapter ... consider it a lost scene ... something that happened in the background between that last chapter and the first one of arc two. It's Aiden-centric and features some faces that will become familiar in the future. And possibly a few clues and hints as well as some fake ones. ;)

Most of these were read before the degree, but it helped tick of some of the duller entries on this list. My knowledge of American literature is utterly appalling ... mainly as it was a separate department at uni and as I was doing a joint-honour languages course, my interests obviously lay in European literature. Though no German classics on this list ... and gothic and mediaeval (hell most things before the nineteenth century) are lacking too.

Still, best to crack on, eh?

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

The Good

Being Human has been commissioned for a full series for the Autumn season 2009. YES!!!!! Go Werewolf/Ghost/Vampire sit-com! (I especially love the dynamic between George and Mitchell and the way the other vampires sneer about Mitchell having acquired a pet while George remains oblivious and sooo puppy-like).

The Bad

Russell T Davies will only be penning 4 more special of DW before leaving it for other projects. Which probably means those rumours about David Tennant leaving after said specials are true too. Which means I'll have to start shelling out to go see him at the RSC in order to get my quota of Geek!watching in.

The Ugly

In case anyone hasn't seen or heard of this.

Winemouse

Was there ever a better advert for not doing drugs? I mean fucking hell ... see jail really helped you there, Pete. And Amy ... didn't you pen a little ditty about REHAB that might be worth reconsidering at this point? And let's not even mention the second video where Amy introduces her cat to the mice. I think being their spokespeople is possibly the most soul-destroying job going.

Oh and the double-project is finally approaching the end so it's conceivable that I'll start to have free time in the near future for writing something other than non-fiction. Assuming I successfully shake the new stalker. He's getting an earful tomorrow.

Somewhat slack jawed after the season 2 finale. Am wincing as I think of the fan response that will be pouring across ffn as of now. But ... fuck ... THAT was a season finale ...

Undone 12 is now up. Ummm. Yeah. End of first story arc. The next Interlude, The Herbalist, should be up soon and I'm posting an apology Easter present to any Undone fans tomorrow when my internet is more stable.

Warnings for content? *runs and hides*

March 19th, 2008

Undone is going up on the Easter weekend. I'm going to put something else up as a bonus, but that's a surprise and may or may not be fic-related.

Before I start the next story arc, which has a considerably different tone to the last, what should I use to clear my brain out with? As represented by the insanely catchy tracks:

Option One: Grounds For Divorce (Elbow in 'song with a chorus' shocker!)

Option Two: Get Over It! (It's so ... chirpy yet bitchy)

Option Three: Open Book

Option Four: Hounds of Love

Glass half empty .. O.O

No, I'm not a pessimist; I'm clearly an alcoholic. That bottle of Shiraz I opened looks to only have one glass's worth left in it. But I finished editing Bane and Aiden's Big Dramatic Scene and am happy with it (in my drunken mind).

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuun, I want to come and see you this weekend. If I show up laaaaaaaate in Cardiff will you have Paprika pringles, chocolate and alcohol on stand-by? As my least favourite short, bald Bid Manager has managed TO MAKE ME WORK LATE ALL WEEK AGAIN DUE TO HIS INABILITY TO MANAGE A BID UNLESS THERE'S A WEEK DEADLINE IN WHICH CASE HE'LL GO CRAWLING TO THE DIRECTOR'S DESPITE KNOWING WE HAVE NO FREE TIME TO DO HIS WORK FOR HIM BECAUSE HE'S FUCKING ASSHOLE THAT SEEMS TO ASSUME WE'LL DROP EVERYTHING TO BE HIS GLORIFIED TYPING POOL. Ahm. Yeah, dickhead has fucked things up AGAIN for us writers. But I have got everything else mostly in order.

God I hate that Ian Hislop look-alike. And it's no wonder he never wins anything.

This plays without fail every morning on my way into work. I am now addicted to it and its insanely catchy upbeatness. It actually wakes me up in the morning.

Great DJ

These days I find myself liking the upbeat, energetic stuff far more than the darker rock I used to listen to a few years ago. Maybe it's because dancing to something like this is far more fun. Though watching people throw dramatic poses to Panic At The Disco's 'I write sins not tragedies' is always a guaranteed laugh.

King, Phoo + Action

Share
kazahaya, made by <lj user="aerostati">
I just finished watching Jamie Hewlett's (Damon Albarn's co-conspiritor in all things Gorillaz) kung-fu, live-action comic strip drama Phoo Action and I loved it. Here be the trailer that suckered me in late on Sunday...

Harry and William would have sued for slander had they watched it and I have no idea where BBC3 got the budget for it from (it looked like they might have raided Doctor Who's prop department for some of the mutants). Basic set-up is Queen murdered by mysterious mutant and so Hong Kong kung-fu supercop Terry Phoo (complete with special move, the Shaolin Wedgie) is dispatched to help those confused Brits out and clashes with the daughter of the police chief. She does the thinking, he does the kicking and much bashing of mutants and misuse of cosmic hotpants ensues. Helen ... they'll have it on BBC iPlayer soon so you can watch it online.

And then they showed a trailer for their next drama/comedy/piece of wierdness and it's about three young flatmates (one of whom I swear is that welsh kid off big brother) and called Being Human. Yes ... you've guessed it. It's supernatural meets student-life type stuff featuring vampires et al with a British twist. (Hun ... it's like Surburbia brought to life!!!)I'm feeling very optomistic. If this is what the Beeb's rebranding of Three has created then good on them.
